Our first mission trip to Love Children's Home (LCH) in Myanmar was in 2014. When the 2020 pandemic and the 2021 military coup erupted, the church closed the trip and we were kept out of the country for several years. We prayed, heartbroken, as Covid and chaos took lives and dreams from the people we loved.
But God is faithful! We were able to resume travel to Myanmar over Christmas of 2023. Although the church program was shut down, God has continued to allow our family to bring God's love, encouragement and resources to a network of 500 + orphans , a widow's home and the surrounding villages.
We visit over Christmas because that is the only day we can legally proclaim the gospel in Myanmar. In addition to bringing aid, we partner with the orphanage network on a Christmas Day outreach that feeds and ministers to several thousand surrounding villagers. So many find salvation and healing! It is a huge endeavor that was halted during the time we were unable to enter the country.
But it is really the brave leaders of LCH, their hearts for the lost and to raise up this next generation in Myanmar that has captured our hearts.
"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."
- James 1:27
God hasn't forgotten Myanmar, and neither have we!
MYANMAR is the second poorest of the Asian countries; ranked #40 worldwide. Its lack of deep ports and military constraints, in Myanmar make it difficult to ship resources. Your donations will be hand carried to their destination by our team - no middle management involved!
Thank you for your generous prayers and support in helping us bring the true meaning of Christmas to a nation the world seems to have forgotten about!
Sincerely,
Burington Family
