WHY MYANMAR?
Myanmar, Asia's second poorest nation, leads the international stage as home to the longest running civil war in world history. The most recent military coup in 2021 took place on the heels of the 2020 world wide pandemic and a "free" election. Thousands , including children, are suffering under military suppression and, more recently , the aftermath of the 2025 earthquake ( see video above.)
Children lose parents to difficult working conditions, trafficking, drugs or military oppression. Many lack relatives that can afford to take care of them. Aumg Sang Suu Kyi, Myanmar Nationalist leader, is the only person to have received a Nobel Peace Prize while under house arrest.
